Originally a string quartet formed by four women (Edda R?n ?lafsd?ttir, Hildur ?rs?lsd?ttir, Mar?a Huld Markan Sigf?sd?ttir and S?lr?n Sumarli?ad?ttir) at the Reykjav?k College of Music in the late 1990s, Amiina went on to cut its teeth as Sigur R?s' string section for the next decade.
